should i buy Bush Furniture Vantage Corner Desk reviews

This attractive corner desk from Bush Furniture’s Vantage collection affords ample surface and storage space for a home office. Crafted from medium density fiberboard and paper, a rich harvest cherry finish adorns the desk for an elegant veneer. The left side of the desk features an elevated shelf, great for a desk lamp or printer, a small storage shelf, and a CPU storage compartment. For adjusting computer wires and cables, the desk supplies rear access to the CPU compartment. A frosted glass window covers the front of the compartment for CPU concealment. Next to the elevated desk section, the desk contains a file drawer for letter-sized file folders, a second small storage drawer, and two open storage compartments. The shelf separating the open compartments can be adjusted for varied height, or removed for one larger storage space. For ideal monitor placement, the main desktop lies at a diagonal angle so that the user faces the corner of both the room and the desk. A sliding keyboard and mouse tray is mounted underneath the desktop. In the center and right corners of the corner desk, two L-shaped legs extend and lay flush on the floor to support the desktop’s weight. All drawers and the CPU compartment door open with a tug on the chrome loop-style handles. The corner desk requires home assembly and comes with necessary hardware and instructions. In the event of defects, a one-year limited warranty covers this item. The corner desk measures 58-1/2 inches wide by 38-2/5 inches deep by 35-2/5 inches high assembled. Upon shipping, the desk weighs 138 pounds. This desk looks nice, but the quality is poor. The drawers were damage when received, I called the customer service and they sent me the new ones.
Some parts of the desk should be metal but they are plastic instead. So, it is very easy to break. My 16 months old son opened the drawers and CPU door a few times and they broke. They are very easy to get scratches. I hate this about a lot of pressed board furniture: the pre-drilled holes are not in the right place and the drawers and doors are all crooked when you're finished.

It looks sloppy. The door is the only straight piece on this because it can be adjusted with the hinges.

The keyboard tray slides out very easily which is sometimes not so with this type of furniture. It is a beautiful color and would look awesome if the drawers weren't so crooked.

It's very solid, doesn't wobbly at all and has just the right amount of storage space. It has a nice thin 2 shelf system above the filing cabinet section that is perfect for routers, cable modems & other small devices to be placed and free up desk/floor space.

Next time I will be spending more for real wood furniture with STRAIGHT drawers. But for the price, this serves it's purpose well. I rarely write a bad review, but I feel I owe it to those of you considering this desk. While it may look pretty, if you planning on using it for its purpose, you will find it will let you down greatly. I've had screws pull out of the pressboard (in several places!), the filing drawer is always collapsing on me and the hinges to the computer cabinet come loose when you look at them wrong. I am by no means rough on my furniture which is what makes this even more disappointing...This desk looked nice when we got it, however, within a year it started to totally fall apart. Moving it started all the problems. After that it became very unstable. Now, 2 years later, a drawer front has fallen off, and in addition to being rickety, the finish is coming off all over the place. There are chips and nicks over the entire work surface. I wouldn't recommend it. Took about 2 hours to put together had great instructions and everything was labeled to make is super easy to put together. Love the look of it and it definitely has lots of storage space. I would definitely recommend. Help other customers find the mosWe bought this desk from OfficeMax for less than Amazon is selling it, but as OfficeMax requires that we sign up for an account before we review, I figured I could find it here - and I did!

Anyway, the desk -

A few helpful hints:

1) This is not a desk that 1 person can put together themselves without a lot of issues. 2 people make it go much smoother.
2) It's heavy as hell - we have a crib we're going to be putting together shortly that's not as heavy as this monster.
3) Do not expect everything to line up square and flush. Many reviewers on the OfficeMax site said the same thing - why we can never buy an item that actually works the way it's supposed to, I'm not sure.
4) If you have a cordless drill - USE IT. Makes the process 1,000x's easier!
5) Be prepared to drill a LOT of screws in.

My husband and I got this desk put together in about 4-5 collective hrs (we spent a few days doing it) and while we're overall okay with it, we definitely have some lining up issues - the glass-front door is parallel with the drawers but not with the desk itself, the back-side cover isn't flush, etc. There are also some minor cosmetic issues - but thankfully we got lucky and it's on the parts that you can't see unless you're looking for them.

We also think we'll leave it with the house when we move - it is really that heavy.

So yeah - overall not a bad investment, but you have to be willing to overlook the flaws. Happy building! Illustration-only assembly instructions grossly inadequate. Several parts depicted in illustrations that were not included or mentioned as only optional. Wasted much time searching for things that were not there. When very gently standing up one of the two major pieces for connection, it flexed perhaps 5 degrees and tore the cam lock and post mechanisms and associated particle board out, rendering the whole project a 120-dollar piece of trash. I have previously assembled many, many pieces of furniture without incident. Pretty in the pictures, but in reality..... This desk is very cheaply made at an expensive price. Took about 4 hours to put it together. The door fell off the same day. The drawers do not align correctly due to the pre drilled holes. The desktop scratches very easy. It is advertised as a corner desk but it is definitely not a corner desk. So if you are looking for a corner desk, this is not the one. I am very unhappy with this desk as it is really shoddy materials. Buyer Beware!!!! My parents bought this desk locally. I spent a while putting it together. Some pieces of it were already broken and all of the pieces are rather flimsy. I do not recommend spending money on this desk. After a day the keyboard tray fell off--the screws stripped right out of the underside of the desktop. This is a very poor quality item. I like this desk. It's very sturdy. I've had it for about 6 months now and still no signs of wobbling or broken parts. The only sign of wear is where the mouse is used, I don't have a mouse pad so the finish shows signs of wear.

The glass door is adjustable. It used to rub against the drawers until I read the manual again and there is a screw on each hinge to adjust it. No more rubbing.
