I was hoping that the finish was close to cherry. It is close, but it is a bit more red/orange than real cherry. But quite attractive. Assembling the desk was simple and straight-forward. Each part is numbered and easy to identify, including the many sets of screws, which are individually bagged and labeled. All the holes were pre-drilled and took the screws easily. Make sure you note the left and right sliders for the drawer and slide-out board when you remove the plastic wrappers. It took about an hour to complete the 10 or so assembly steps using one cordless screwdriver with a phillips head drive.
One reviewer here complained about not having adjustable legs to compensate for an uneven floor. The desk has six screw-in "feet" that can be adjusted up or down about an inch each. You install them in step one of the assembly processwe needed a small desk for my wife's laptop and she shopped for this for days look at hundred's from every where. It came in less than a week the freight company called when it got to our town and set a delivery day and approximate time WOW ! what service .It was well packed and the instructions were very clear and easy to assemble ,all holes and screws aligned up perfectly the finish on the desk was very good lots of space for her accessory's we recommend this product very highly would buy it again
Delivered quite quickly. I didn't wait for my husband to come home and
put it together, which is what I would usually do cause they are always
so difficult to put things like this together. I followed the very easy
directions and it went together without any trouble at all! I was very
impressed how easy it was. And am just as impressed with the desk
itself. Very happy that I purchased this desk. It is not cheaply made,
you can tell. Very sturdy and was happy that it didn't cost a great deal
of money. Would recommend to anybody!
Assembly-wise I have never seen a do-it-yourself kit with parts labeled so completely; even the drawer slides were labeled RIGHT and LEFT (for those who wouldn't know otherwise?). It even came with extra screws! I've never seen that! However, the pilot holes in the drawer are too small and slightly crooked. Also, I have an IBM ThinkCenter tower PC which has a 1.5 inch rise along the top of the front of the case which prevents it from fitting, so I removed the CPU panel and just set it on the ground. This amazing little cart holds all my pc equipment in a very tiny space. I needed to move to a smaller space recently and my old desk wouldn't fit. This one does. It efficiently holds all the same equipment in half the space. I love it and I wonder why I never found anything similar before. I highly recommend this product to anyone who needs a new desk. Its not sexy but it sure does the job! I am 100% satisified with this desk. I've been using it for several weeks now and it's the perfect desk for me. It took me about two hours to put together. The directions are clear and the parts (including the screws) are labeled. They even give you spare screws and a screwdriver...you don't need any of your own tools. The quality of the materials is great. Worth the price too. If you're looking for a small desk, I recommend this one. This desk was a little confusing to put together at times. However, it looks nice (there is a bit of very dark brown running through the grain). It can be a bit wobbly when the printer is running. I read that some people could put this desk together in an hour or less so thought it would take me 5 hours. It took lots longer than that-I didn't understand how the screws worked in the bottom 2 pieces until the tech I called explained it, then found that one set was missing so had to wait for them to be mailed. When I got them I found that I did have an unlabled package of them that I hadn't known what to do with. I found it hard to assemble alone but managed it, although I had a lot of trouble with the pieces you had to do from underneath. There were 2 screws that I couldn't get in as the space to use the screwdriver was very small-it didn't seem to matter so I left them out and it seems quite stable. Someone better at furniture assembly could do it much easier than me. However, it finally came together and I really like the different features of the desk. Also it perfectly matches some other furniture in the wood color so I'm very happy with it now. This is a good, serviceable desk. It arrived in fine condition, shipped reasonably quickly. The surface area is generous, and the pull out shelves are well sized for keyboard, mouse, and assorted other accessories. I keep a legal pad and some pens in the drawer. If you have a larger screen monitor (Mine is 27"...my wife and I watch movies and TV on the computer) it doesn't fit in the back of the main desk area. You can either set it forward, or on the raised ledge above the CD holder. I have done the second, as it is sturdy and secure. Overall, excellent for the price range.
On the negative side is the assembly process. Overall, I have good things to say about this...all the parts were discreet and well labeled. Many preliminary parts of assembly that I've had to go through with other products are already done. (Drawer is assembled, caps are on the ends of the support arms, sockets are in place for the screws, etc.) Also, ALL necessities for assembly are included, though you'd do well to have a good screwdriver of your own, as the included one is quite small. This is a plus in some assembly steps, as the spaces you're working with are rather narrow sometimes. There was even a bag with extras for all the screws or easily lost parts. Well thought. So my problem is twofold. First, there are about a half dozen different types and sizes of screws, if not more. That's not a bad thing, just less than convenient, so forgivable in the name of good quality. In addition, some of the guide holes for smaller screws are entirely lacquered over...I had to scratch around where I thought a hole would be til I found one. Relatedly, some of those screws don't go in very smoothly. This could lead to a slightly wobbly assembly if you're not experienced or willing to put in a good deal of elbow grease.
The second...fold...is the assembly directions themselves. They are rather vague, and poorly worded in places. Worse still are the diagrams. These leave out important visual details which would make assembly much easier than it was. I found this frustrating, and considering how happy I am with all the other attention to detail put into this desk, very disappointing. If you have a good amount of experience with putting together these kinds of things, you will be able to push through, but I suspect less experienced buyers would struggle and have to redo certain steps.Although i was anxious when i ordered this due to a couple of not so good reviews, i was really positively surprised. This desk looks great and is really solid. All the equipment was there and everything fit perfectly. I must reiterate that it is really solid - much more than i expected. Price was ok - maybe just a little cheaper would have made me even happier but overall a great buy. I'm actually using it for both my home computer and my lap top - they both fit great (if you put the printer somewhere else).I love this desk! Yes, it was hard to put together. At least for my husband and me who have no clue what we're doing. But I think if you are the even the tiniest bit handy, it's actually a pretty easy desk to put together. But even though we found it really difficult, we had a lot of fun putting it together. And we did figure it all out in the end. We just had to keep undoing what we already did which was easy enough. And at the end, when it was all put together, we loved the finished product and it was totally worth all the hours we put into it. It's not the best quality in the world, but it was exactly what we were looking for.
