should i buy Winsome Wood Kendall Computer Desk reviews

Quaintly styled like a classic writing desk, Winsome Wood’s Kendall computer desk blends old with new for an inviting yet highly functional work area that fits nicely into small spaces. Kendall features a nestled design with a rolling auxiliary desk surface tucked under the main stationary surface. A gap between the two allows for storage of a keyboard or papers, and both areas feature back rails to keep items securely in place. Made of solid and composite woods, the desk is finished in Antique Walnut and offers simple lines for a clean, timeless look. It measures 35.4 inches wide by 15.7 inches deep by 33 inches high. Ready to assemble with included tools. We want a product that looks like this and of this size but believe this product is so poorly built that it is not worth buying. Avoid!

Amazon was great. We ordered and the box arrived without any signs of damage. We started to unpack it and my wife noticed that an edge had broken off the top table. The particle board at the broken area was flaking badly which made it unacceptable as a new product. Alright, transport problems happen. We took pictures and decided to return to amazon.

After talking it over, we decided that to continue to build the table since the size was perfect and the finish looked okay. Our plan was to contact the manufacturer for a new top and/or talk to Amazon to replace one with a broken edge. A few seconds later we got to the smaller top and one side literally fell off before we even touched it! The side has split as a result of the wood screws the manufacturer used to connect the side to the top. This was no damage but rather very, very cheap construction. We saw that the side was basically pressed cardboard. Gack! Other side was also starting to split but had not yet separated.

That settled it. This product is awful. I'm sad to see that a Washington State product is of such poor quality. (We live in Washington State.) It aggravating because the size is perfect for our needs and the product fit our room. Since the table is narrow, I was concerned about stability. The idea was to use earthquake fasteners to snug it to the wall as I was planning on putting a very expensive monitor on it, a Dell U3011. I definitely did not want the monitor to fall! In reading the Amazon reviews prior to purchasing, some reviewers had noted that the smaller table can fall when pulled out too far as it only has two legs. Okay, I could live with that as it would only hold a keyboard and mouse.

Our options: No question that the product had to go back for a refund. We verified this with Amazon customer service before purchasing and were impressed by how easy it was to get an RMA. Okay, we can chance buying furniture again from Amazon. Other options, maybe we can find a woodworking friend to build us a similar table to the winsome Wood Kendall Computer Desk for not too much and I can finish it. <sigh> Great idea from Kendall, very very cheap construction.Item arrived in great shape. Assembly was slightly problematic given that the provided allen wrench was of low quality and stripped before I had the screws all the way in. Please note that the provided screw head was fine and did not strip. I found another one in my allen wrench collection from another furniture assembly product that did the trick.

I'm even using a non-rolling chair with the desk which I thought would be problematic, but I just push the desk back instead. Works great! This is a great wood desk, nice color. Instructions are lacking, however, we did get it assembled. I use it beside my bed, nice height. Would purchase again, great price for wood desk that is made fairly good. The manufacturer does not give useful dimensions for this product. The height of the surface of the lower desk is 29", the upper part is about 33.5" I think the standard height for a desk for a keyboard is about 25", so the lower desk is really too high for a keyboard. I cut 4" off, and it looks like it will work fine.

The quality is about what I expected for the price. The legs are solid wood, the desk surfaces are fiber board with a faux wood surface. I purchased this desk after searching for weeks for something that would fit a relatively short and slim space. After reading feedback from previous purchasers, I realized there might be some problems with it, but since I couldn't find anything else that met all my requirements, I went ahead and bought it. The box arrived in the described time frame and I took out all the pieces and began to put it together. I was a bit dismayed to see that there was a large line/crack in the veneer on the writing surface of the back portion, but since it was at the seam I decided to let it go. However, when I was about 3/4 finished with the assembly, one of the legs (from the front slider part) literally fell apart in my hands. I had noticed a hairline crack on it earlier, but assumed this was just a flaw in the veneer like on the top -- wrong. It was a flaw that ran all the way through the wood and should never have passed inspection.

So after whimpering for a while, I went online and requested a replacement from Amazon. I opted for the self-ship return so I could keep the current desk (already mostly built) and just replace the broken/flawed parts once the replacement desk arrived. After another five-day wait the new one came, and I was able to pick and choose the parts I wanted to keep. So basically, after sorting through components from two desks, I was able to put together a final piece of decent quality. There are still a few cosmetic flaws on the legs, and one of the joints is glued slightly crookedly, but at least these aren't serious structural problems, and you don't really notice them in the finished product.I agree with other reviewers that the hardware on this desk is of the very cheapest quality, so BE GENTLE when tightening and don't overdo. Even being very cautious I stripped one of the screws (fortunately I was able to get it back off with pliers, but that wouldn't have been possible with all of them).

In summary, I'd say this: if you're willing to be patient, or you get lucky and receive a decent set of parts in the first go, this is a very nice desk for the price. I suspect it's inexpensive because they're using an inferior-grade wood, which accounts for the various flaws and problems. That said, the wood finish is quite pretty, and I absolutely love the slim footprint and clever, space-saving design. (N.B.: If you have this on carpet, you do have to be careful when pulling out the front section -- I find if I hang onto the back section as I tug, it works pretty well. Might be easier on hardwood floors.) However, be prepared to deal with serious quality control issues. For me, now that the hassle part is over, I'm happy with it. I put this desk together last night, took less than an hour and was easier than the stool I got to go with it. I am not skilled at assembling furniture and was really dreading it, but I had no problems. The desk arrived in good shape and looks great. It's the perfect size for my space, and I have no complaints. We want a product that looks like this and of this size but believe this product is so poorly built that it is not worth buying. Avoid!

Stay away!!! Love the cute little desk, just the right size, shape, color, style. Not too difficult to assemble. But one of the cute wooden caster wheels falls right off because its axle falls right out of the threading hole. I emailed the company; no answer yet. Doubt I'll have one. .If it wasn't for the missing assembly instructions, parts and tools, along with the terrible customer service from an Amazon.com representative, I would probably like the desk. However, the experience of trying to acquire the missing items was horrible and nothing but a hassle for me. I hope if you order this desk it comes with the necessary parts to actually assemble. Fairly easy to put together if you've had previous experience with flat-box furniture kits, although the enclosed instructions could have been just a bit less cryptic (there were a couple of puzzling moments). But once assembled, this is a very nice piece of wood furniture--solidly made, nice finish, nice color--and it goes well with my home decor (doesn't scream "home office" and stand apart from the rest of the furnishings in the room). One feature that I like is the sliding keyboard section: you can just slide it in and stand up without pushing your chair back, which can sometimes be difficult on carpeting unless you use one of those plastic floor mats under your chair. Very pleased with it, and I highly recommend this product.
This desk was just the right size and would accomadate my needs. It took about thirty minutes to assemble, not bad at all. The only problem was the hex tool was really inadequate. It was a good thing I had another to complete the job. The desk has a nice finish and is attractive. My daughter in law ordered a Pottery Barn desk just a few days ago and by comparison I'd say this desk is just as efficient and a heck of a lot cheaper.
