should i buy Computer Desk Bed Tray Book Stand Ergonomics Design reviews

I give it a relatively high rating of 3 stars because I didn't expect much for $23 + shipping, so I feel a lower rating would be unfair. Brand new out of the box: the unvarnished wood is rough and splintery, if you handle the contraption even slightly rough, it'll fall apart, being very cheaply and hastily constructed...

So handy, I immediately began making my own modifications to it. The drawer on the side was so small it'd barely hold a pencil, so I removed it and made another one from scratch on my friend's table saw. My new drawer is longer, wider, and twice as deep, roughly tripling the interior storage volume of the original (now I can store my computer mouse in it when not in use). The screws attaching the legs to the table top are too long, so they don't screw them in all the way, making the lower portion loose. I tightened the screws and their tips pierced the top surface of the table top. The manufacturer can't be bothered to procure 1/4" shorter screws to avoid this? I removed them, cut them shorter, screwed them back in, TIGHT. The little cleat that holds your laptop from sliding off when you tilt the desk wants to break off and worst of all, the leg that props the tilting desk up looks like it's going to break off any moment, possibly damaging my computer in the fall. Will be reinforced by me. They are next on my todo list.

Unrelated to the quality of the desk, I attached pockets to the underside of the tilting portion of the desk: the pockets secure mini portable hard disk drives hooked up to the laptop directly above them, yet remain out-of-sight-out-of-mind, and both laptop and drives remain cool, now well ventilated being up off my lap and/or bed blankets. I wish I'd gotten a lap desk like this years ago. Seeing how simple it's construction is, I am already brainstorming my own custom desk to be built from scratch. I love poorly made products. They give me so many ideas.Summery: the item was as described. But where in the description will any seller say "breaks/comes a part easily!" The first day used, got splinters and later that evening the part with venting whole came undone and I had to assemble them together...and have been doing so over and over again until I bought a Gorilla Super glue.Well, I read the reviews and knew the risk, but I was really unprepared for the absolute horrible construction and finishing on this item. The quality is absolutely horrible. It looks like a member of the local JR High woodworking class constructed this thing in a dark basement using homemade Lincoln Logs (that they made themselves) out of fireplace kindling without the benefit of sandpaper, a chisel or the benefit of eyesight.

The "lattice" table top is unevenly glued and not sanded at all, so there splinters everywhere. Each side is rough and unsanded, the wood has divots and chunks everywhere, and in two places where wood or edges splintered, the seller re-glued them unevenly, thereby creating a sharp jagged point to catch fabric and skin.

The kickstand used to prop the table top up is more flimsy than a table leg constructed out of Popsicle sticks--- and I could go on and on. Virtually every element of construction is flawed, horrible and at times injurious.

EDIT: OH and the little "bar" that should prop your laptop up when the table top is tilted? they assembled the stupid table top backwards, so that it is located at the top of my table and serves no useful purpose at all.

I ordered this so I could get some work done while flat on my back with muscle spasms, and it was impossible to use without fear of injury. A family member attempted to sand it down for me and paint it with gloss and lacquer, just to make it serviceable, but it is still looks horrible.

I should have paid the extra $10 and got the more expensive item made out of bamboo. And so should you- honestly. I should have paid the extra $10 and got the more expensive item made out of bamboo. And so should you- honestly. the desk is perfect for my needs. i like to sit in bed and use my laptop. it seems to be unfinished in any way and i think it is sold as saying something like if you think unpainted means unfinished don't buy this product, so i assumed it had some type of varnish, etc but i don't think it does. that is something that i plan to do with it just to seal it. but is very smooth and i may be wrong but it seems unfinished to me. but constructed great and great performance. Buy this item if you are handy with glue and painting. Or buy something that is really finished project
